Freudenberg Subsidiary Celebrates its 20th Anniversary as a Leading International Supplier to the Independent Automotive Aftermarket

Frankfurt (Germany), September 7, 2016. For 20 years, Corteco has been a success as a leading supplier to the independent automotive aftermarket. Being part of the global Freudenberg Group, the company supplies around 40,000 articles in original equipment quality. Corteco is back at the Automechanika 2016 to present its latest products, with an emphasis on vibration dampers, seals and filtration. But there is more – the most conspicuous change at Stand B70 in Hall 6.0 is Corteco’s new brand presence on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

“With our new brand presence, we are emphasizing the three pillars of our business success: our first-class products, our highly qualified employees and our unique customer service,” said Jason Meier, Senior Vice President of Corteco. “The logo and the company color, a powerful red, are unchanged. The color red stands for passion, power and speed. And Corteco is exactly that. We are a dynamic company whose employees provide the best possible customer service with a great deal of energy every day and continually strive for improvement.”

Employees are also at the center of Corteco’s new visual world. “We’re showing the people behind our products on our website and in our advertising, brochures and catalogs,” Meier said. “Without the expertise of our employees, we would never have the first-class products which were the key to our success for past 20 years in the independent automotive aftermarket.”

Many of these products will be on display at the company’s Automechanika stand in Frankfurt, including pulleys and bearings for start-stop systems. These systems enable vehicle manufacturers to reduce their vehicles’ CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. But the engine’s on-and-off operation produces severe vibrations, placing an enormous load on surrounding parts. On average, an ordinary pulley will have to withstand up to 50,000 to 70,000 starts, a start-stop pulley on the other hand will have to endure 10 times as many.

A range of innovative seals to reduce friction will also be displayed at Automechanika. They include the BlueSeal, one of the optimized Simmerring’s from Corteco’s parent company Freudenberg Sealing Technologies. Made from PTFE, the seal weighs 40 percent less than a conventional radial shaft seal. And thanks to its innovative design, it achieves a 30 percent reduction in frictional losses.

The third focus at the Corteco stand at Automechanika involves interior air filters. With about 750 different interior air filters in its assortment, Corteco offers the largest selection of particulate filters and active carbon filters across Europe. The micronAir® Filter from Freudenberg is installed in nearly every other new car equipped with an interior air filter. It is a classic product that effectively protects against pollutants and odors. The Micron Air Blue-Filter will be among the products exhibited at the trade fair. Thanks to its new and original patented filter material, even the tiniest microparticles such as fungal spores are filtered out of the interior air.

Transtec products will also be highlighted at the stand, including automatic transmission and power steering sealing kits for vehicle service specialists. “We are already firmly established in the North American market with our Transtec brand,” said Rodrigo Vilela, Vice President Corteco Europe. “Now we want to repeat this success in Europe.”

Another highlight of the Automechanika presentation is the introduction of the company’s new web catalog. With its new, improved user-oriented design offering expanded display opportunities, the online presentation of Corteco products is becoming simpler and easier. “After all, speed is ultimately a success factor in the hotly contested replacement parts market,” Vilela explains. “With just a few clicks, the user has all the necessary product information on the screen.”
